A Peaceful Stay and a Confident Dog

We recently welcomed Kerra and Stuart for a short stay in one of our barns, paired with tailored training through K9 Mentor. Stays like this show just how powerful it can be to combine expert dog training with a peaceful, dog friendly holiday in Cornwall. It’s a chance for both dog and owner to relax, reset and build confidence.

Our barns at Bed and Basket are designed purely for dog friendly holidays. They offer comfort and plenty of quiet countryside moments that help dogs settle after busy or stressful periods. This calm setting is ideal for learning and for building trust, especially for dogs that arrive feeling unsure or overwhelmed.

Why is this unique?

During their stay, our training team at K9 Mentor worked closely with the client to focus on their dog’s individual needs. We specialise in a personalised, dog centred training approach that is structured to the dog in front of us rather than using a set routine. From better manners, to focus, recall, reactivity support, or general behaviour support, every session is shaped to help dogs succeed and progress at their own pace.

What makes this combination of holiday and training so effective is the chance to practise new skills straight away. Put up your sign and head out into one of the enclosed paddock. This immediate follow up helps you and your dog reinforce what your have just learned while it is still fresh without distraction or pressure. Peaceful local walks, relaxed evenings in the barn and gentle exposure to new experiences all help dogs learn in real life situations. Dogs feel safe enough to try and owners feel supported as they build confidence and their connection together.

The review from their stay says everything.

“A calm dog. A relaxed owner. Space to breathe. Real progress made through kindness and understanding”.

What dog friendly holiday activities do our guests love?

At Bed and Basket near St Austell in Cornwall, our dog friendly holidays are all about creating memorable experiences for you and your four-legged friends. We love hearing about the moments that make your stay extra special. Recently, we asked our guests one simple question: What are your dog’s favourite holiday activities when staying at Bed and Basket?

The results were brilliant and very Cornwall. Here’s what you told us:

Joint Third Place: River Splashes and Pasty Sharing

Some of our dogs love a playful splash in the river, while others can’t resist sharing the crimp from your Cornish pasty. Clearly, dogs know how to enjoy the finer things in life! We can direct you to both nearby rivers to play in and fabulous locations to buy a tasty pasty!

Second Place: Zoomies in the Enclosed Paddocks

With 20% of the votes, the second dog favourite activity was running free, with zoomies in one of Bed and Basket’s enclosed paddocks. There’s nothing like that burst of energy and joy. It’s a pleasure to see.

First Place: Running on the Beach

By far the most popular dog friendly activity was a good old run on the beach. Sand, sea, and plenty of space make this a favourite for dogs of all shapes and sizes.
